Asda appoints retail veteran David Potts as new CEO.

Supermarket giant Asda has named former Morrisons boss David Potts as its new chief executive with immediate effect, marking a major shift in direction as the grocer looks to accelerate its ongoing turnaround efforts. Potts, who spent four decades at Tesco before leading Morrisons until its 2023 private equity takeover, takes over the helm to steer the business through intense competition from discount rivals Aldi and Lidl. This leadership change prompts veteran boss Allan Leighton to step back into a non-executive chairman role, just two years after returning to the company. Leighton stated that his previous efforts have brought the business to the foothills of recovery, noting recent positive sales growth following a prolonged period of decline. Potts praised the progress made and emphasised his commitment to delivering value for families across the UK and supporting the company's workforce. Fuente: City AM
