Weathernews has issued a warning for the remote Ogasawara Islands, saying they should expect high waves, persistent swells, strong winds and brief periods of heavy rain as Typhoon In‑fa makes its closest approach on Thursday. The Japan Meteorological Agency rates the system as a strong typhoon, with a central pressure of 970 hectopascals, sustained winds of 126 kilometres per hour and gusts that could top 180 kilometres per hour. While the storm is not expected to make landfall on Honshu, moist air surrounding it may bring intensified rainfall to the Kanto region and as far south as Shizuoka Prefecture. Meteorologists note that the typhoon is moving slowly northward over waters southwest of the islands, will continue northward Thursday before turning eastward, and is forecast to head northeast over Japanese waters on Friday. Residents in the affected areas are advised to stay alert, secure coastal properties and follow official updates. #TyphoonInfa #Ogasawara #JapanWeather #TheJapanTimes Fuente: The Japan Times
